Sexual behaviour

The breeding season of goats lasts from August to about November/December. During this time, bucks emit a strong, characteristic odour. Female goats often prefer older bucks with an intense odour. A typical behaviour of bucks during courting is their ‘tongue flapping’, similar to that seen in male sheep. A buck in rut also urinates on his beard and mouth (enurination), a typical sexual behaviour unique to goats.
