Origin and behaviour

The ancestors of today’s domestic goats are Bezoar goats and Markhor goats, originally inhabiting Eastern Europe and Asia Minor. Their habitat is partially forested, mountainous and barren. The extensive climbing activity and selective feeding habit of goats are behaviours rooted in the characteristics of this habitat. Goats are diurnal, vigilant and very curious.
