Climatic needs

Unlike sheep, goats lack an insulating wool coat, but they grow a thick layer of underwool during the cold season outdoors. Whereas they handle dry cold very well, goats are sensitive to wet cold and air draft. Optimum temperatures lie between 8 and 15 °C. Goats’ climatic needs differ between the breeds, and several of the old Landrace breeds are much more adaptable to different weather conditions than the younger high-performance breeds.
